This is the single decision that shapes a luxury Egypt tour more than any other. We sail the Luxor–Aswan stretch in both directions, and the two options suit genuinely different trips.
The 4-night cruise sails Luxor to Aswan — southbound, four nights on board. The additional night gives you more slow time on deck rather than another item on a schedule. It suits trips that finish in the south, or that carry on to Abu Simbel afterwards.
The 3-night cruise sails Aswan to Luxor — northbound, three nights on board. It’s the tighter option, and it drops neatly into shorter itineraries when you’re flying out of Luxor or heading back to Cairo.
