Where you sleep
Accommodation is chosen for your route rather than dropped in from a fixed list, and it’s confirmed by property name for your dates before you commit to anything. What we won’t do is publish a hotel list on a landing page and hope it’s still accurate next season. Egypt is bigger than it looks on a phone screen, and the single most common planning mistake we see is underestimating the distance between Cairo and Upper Egypt.

Entrance fees to the sites on your itinerary, ordered so you’re at the hardest places at the easiest hours. Some sites carry separate tickets — certain tombs, certain interiors — and where that applies we say so in your written breakdown rather than letting you discover it at the gate.

Cairo and Giza — the opening argument
You arrive, you sleep badly, and then you stand in front of a structure built forty-five centuries ago that still makes no sense at close range. Most travellers give Cairo two days and wish they’d given it three. Beyond the plateau there’s Saqqara, Memphis and Dahshur to the south, Coptic and Islamic Cairo in the middle, and museum collections that have quietly become world-class.

Luxor — the largest open-air museum anywhere
Fly south and the register changes completely. Luxor holds Karnak, a temple complex that reads like a two-thousand-year argument between pharaohs, and across the river the painted tombs of the Valley of the Kings. In between sits Luxor Temple, which is best after dark when the columns are lit and the day has finally let go.

The Nile between Luxor and Aswan — the part that travels for you
You can drive this corridor. Plenty do. But a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan quietly removes the hard part: your hotel moves while you sleep, your bags stay put, and Edfu and Kom Ombo turn up a short walk from where you had breakfast.
It is also, for most travellers, the emotional centre of the trip. The hours between temples are spent on a deck watching a strip of green farmland run out into desert, which is exactly what everyone came for and nobody puts on the itinerary. Aswan and the far south — where everyone slows down
The river widens, granite islands break the current, and the whole trip drops a gear. Aswan is the one place in Egypt where doing very little feels like an achievement rather than a waste. Philae sits on its own island and is reached by small boat, which is half the pleasure of it.
South of here is Abu Simbel, the single most common addition to a luxury escape and the reason many travellers plan their cruise to finish in Aswan rather than start there. Reachable by short flight when your days are tight, or privately by road when you’d rather watch the desert do its thing on the way.

How much a luxury escape to Egypt costs — and why we won’t print a number.
Because a single figure on a landing page is either fiction or a footnote, and you’d have to read the small print anyway. We’d rather quote your trip than decorate ours.
That isn’t evasion, it’s arithmetic. Two couples travelling the same nine-day route in different months, with different hotels and one extra internal flight between them, are not looking at the same invoice. Print one number and it misleads somebody. So we quote per journey.

Egypt is a desert country, so the honest way to answer this isn’t “the best month”. It’s how much heat you’re willing to trade for how much quiet — and how early in the day you’re prepared to get out of bed.

Is Egypt safe for luxury travellers? Here’s how we handle it.
It comes up in almost every first email, usually phrased apologetically. It’s a fair question and it deserves a straight answer rather than reassurance.
The practical answer is that the overwhelming majority of what makes a trip here feel comfortable is structural, not dramatic. You are met at the airport by someone holding your name. You move between sites in a private vehicle with a driver who does this route daily. You have a guide with you at every monument, and a local team reachable while you’re in the country. Nothing about your day depends on you working out a taxi in a language you don’t read.
Beyond that, the sensible advice is the same as anywhere: check your own government’s current travel guidance before you commit — the US State Department, the UK Foreign Office, Global Affairs Canada or Smartraveller, depending on where you’re flying from — and take out proper travel insurance. We’d rather point you at the official source than tell you what to think.

What to pack for a luxury Egypt tour
Light, loose clothing that covers shoulders and knees for temples and mosques. Shoes you can walk uneven stone in, because tomb and temple floors are not level and never were. A hat, sunglasses and high-factor sun cream. One warm layer if you’re travelling between roughly November and February. A refillable bottle. Is a Nile cruise essential on a luxury Egypt tour?
Not essential, but it’s the part most travellers remember. If your dates don’t line up with a sailing, the same corridor is reachable overland — a longer day, and we’ll say so honestly rather than sell it as the same experience.
