Luxury Egypt Vacations

Luxury Egypt vacations, arranged privately and paced so the best hours are yours.

The short version

In Egypt, luxury is mostly a question of timing.

Two travellers can walk into the same tomb, on the same morning, and fly home with two completely different memories of it. Same painted ceiling. Same four thousand years of pigment. What differed was the hour they arrived, how many people arrived with them, and whether anyone beside them could explain what they were looking at.

Egypt supplies the extraordinary all by itself. Everything around it is a planning decision — and planning decisions are ours.

That gap has surprisingly little to do with thread count, and it is the reason luxury Egypt vacations are worth what they cost. We are Egypt Luxury Trips, and we assemble journeys from privately operated tours across Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the stretch of Nile that stitches them together.

So here is the honest division of labour. What you get from Egypt: the Pyramids, the tomb paintings, a river the colour of gunmetal at dawn. What you get from us:

  • The hour. Which site at sunrise, which one after the tour buses have gone, which one skipped altogether on a day when the heat is doing something ridiculous.
  • The company. Your party only — never a coach of forty strangers with one raised umbrella between them.
  • The transitions. The driver already waiting in arrivals. The flight that saves you a day. The cabin that carries you south while you sleep.
  • The straight answer. Including the one where we tell you that eleven sites in four days is not a luxury vacation, it is a commute.

Everything below is built from tours we actually run and publish. If a detail is not on this page, it is because we would rather confirm it for your dates in writing than print an attractive guess.

How it works

Assembled around you, not lifted off a shelf.

We do not sell numbered packages. We publish individual private tours and Nile cruises, and your luxury Egypt vacation is simply the ones that make sense for your dates, your pace and the people you are travelling with. Three examples of what those pieces look like:

4-Night Nile Cruise, Luxor to Aswan

Southbound, four nights aboard, one unpacking. The temples arrive at the boat rather than the other way round, which is the whole argument for cruising the Nile instead of driving beside it.

The river decision

Luxury Nile cruise Egypt: four nights south, or three nights north?

This is the single choice that shapes everything else. It is also, we suspect, the reason you are reading a page about luxury Egypt vacations rather than luxury city breaks.

We sail the water between Luxor and Aswan in both directions, and direction is not a technicality. It decides which city you fly into, which one you fly out of, and where the quiet days land in your trip.

Four nights, sailing south. Our 4-night Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan is the slower reading of the river. The extra night is not extra sightseeing — it is deck time, which is the part people describe first when they get home. It suits journeys that end in the south, or that carry on to Abu Simbel afterwards.

Three nights, sailing north. The 3-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor is the tighter, more efficient version, and it drops neatly into a shorter itinerary. Choose it when you are flying home from Luxor or heading back up to Cairo.

Either way, the practical benefit is the same and it is bigger than it sounds: you unpack once. No second hotel check-in, no repacking between cities, no early transfer to catch a train. For couples, and for anyone travelling with older parents, that one fact often settles the whole itinerary.

No room for a cruise in your dates? The same ground is coverable by road. The Edfu and Kom Ombo temples from Luxor takes in the two great Ptolemaic temples, and the day tour from Luxor to Aswan reaches the south and returns the same evening. Both are long days. We will say so before you book them, not afterwards.

Vessels, cabin categories and exactly what is included on board vary by sailing date, so we confirm those in writing at enquiry rather than publishing them here.

The ground

Cairo, Luxor, Aswan — and the river in between.

Every tour named below is published, private and available as a component of your vacation. Where we have not listed a duration, it is because the tour page does not publish one; tell us which ones interest you and we will confirm timings in writing.

Cairo and Giza: the loud, magnificent beginning

Most luxury Egypt itineraries open here, and the reason is geography rather than sentiment. An extraordinary share of what you flew for sits within an hour of the city — the plateau, the Sphinx, the great collections, the Islamic and Coptic quarters — so a well-built Cairo leg gives you an enormous amount without a single internal flight.

Our quiet recommendation, offered every week and taken far too rarely: give Cairo one more day than you think it needs, and spend it at Dahshur, Memphis and Saqqara. Giza is the postcard. Dahshur is where you can stand in front of a pyramid with almost nobody else in the frame, which is a rarer luxury in Egypt than any hotel suite.

And if you would like the plateau without the coach park, we publish two short programmes that tend to end up as the photograph on the wall: a camel ride at the Giza Pyramids and a quad bike tour out on the desert edge.

Luxor: where the vacation stops being a sightseeing trip

Luxor is unreasonable. The temple density is close to absurd and it is split across two banks — the living East Bank of Karnak and Luxor Temple, and the West Bank of royal tombs, mortuary temples and the village where the tomb-builders lived. You can take the headlines in a day. You could also stay four and still be finding new corners.

If you keep only one piece of practical advice from this page, make it this: book the hot air balloon for a morning with nothing scheduled before late morning. It launches in the dark. What you will want afterwards is breakfast and a long shower, not another temple.

Luxor is also where the second-visit tours live. Dendera and Abydos are among the best-preserved complexes in the country, and most itineraries pass straight by both. So does Esna and El Kab. If you have been to Egypt before, that is where we would point you now.

Reading ahead helps here more than anywhere else. We publish background pieces on the Valley of the Kings and Luxor Temple, and a fuller look at a luxury West Bank day.

Aswan and Abu Simbel: the part everyone underestimates

Aswan changes the tempo, and most travellers only realise they needed that once it happens. The river widens, granite islands split the current, and the days get softer. The classic three — Philae Temple, the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk — fit comfortably into one private day, and the Nubian village by motorboat gives you an afternoon that is about colour and community rather than antiquity.

Then there is the question we are asked most often about the south: is Abu Simbel worth it? Yes. Two colossal temples cut into a cliff, then lifted and rebuilt in the 1960s to keep them above a rising lake — a story almost as good as the temples. We run it two ways: by flight from Aswan when your days are tight, or by road when you would rather see the desert and keep the day flexible.

For a slower evening in Aswan, there is Philae after dark and, on the west bank of the river, the desert walk up to St Simeon Monastery and the Tombs of the Nobles.

Who these vacations are usually built for

Honeymooners. Egypt is a quietly brilliant honeymoon, mostly because it gives you two very different registers in one trip: the spectacle of Giza and Karnak, then long unhurried stretches on the river where the largest decision of the afternoon is which side of the deck has better shade. A balloon at dawn, a felucca at sunset, a guide who knows when to stop talking. We also publish a dedicated luxury honeymoon collection you can build from.

Families. Children usually enjoy Egypt more than their parents predict, because the subject matter is unbeatable — camels, quad bikes, a motorboat to a Nubian village, tombs that look exactly like the book at home. The skill is in pacing rather than content: fewer sites, more variety, and a private schedule you can cut short the moment someone has had enough.

Travellers who need an easier day. The genuine constraints in Egypt are heat, steps and distance. Several tombs involve a descending ramp and temple floors are uneven. Private travel solves most of it, because the vehicle waits where you left it and the day ends when you say it does. Tell us about mobility in the form and we will choose the sites accordingly rather than promise everything and improvise later.

Small groups of friends or extended family. This is where private travel becomes surprisingly sensible: the cost of a guide and vehicle is shared while the experience stays entirely your own. Give us the group size and we will build around it.

Travellers flying from the USA, UK, Canada, Europe and Australia. The questions in our inbox are remarkably consistent — how far apart is everything, and how much of the trip is spent moving? Our answer is always to reduce the number of transitions: fly where flying saves a day, cruise where the boat does the moving, and build the first morning around your actual arrival time rather than a template. Long-haul jet lag is real, and a 4am start on day one is a poor way to spend money.

Days and money

How long you need, and what actually moves the price.

Egypt is longer than it looks on a map — Cairo to Aswan is roughly London to Edinburgh. Most people underestimate the country and overestimate their stamina, in that order.

What genuinely fits into each trip length
You have What that honestly buys
4–5 daysOne region done properly. Cairo and Giza in depth, or Luxor in depth. Attempting both turns the trip into an airport tour.
6–8 daysCairo and Giza, then Luxor and Aswan joined by the 3-night Nile cruise. The classic shape, and the most common one we quote.
9–11 daysThe same spine with the 4-night cruise, Abu Simbel added, and room for West Bank tombs beyond the famous ones.
12–15 daysAll of the above plus Dendera, Abydos, Esna and El Kab — and, crucially, days with nothing scheduled at all.

Look closely at what changes in the longer versions. You are not only adding sites; you are adding space between them. A morning with nothing in it. An afternoon back at the hotel while the sun does its worst. An extra hour at Karnak because you did not want to leave. That space is the actual difference between a luxury Egypt holiday and an efficient one, and it is the first thing to vanish when a trip gets squeezed.

Why there is no price printed on this page

Because a single number would either mislead you or be so hedged it tells you nothing. Instead, here is what genuinely moves a quote for luxury Egypt vacation packages, so you can see where your own budget will land:

  1. Party size. A private guide and vehicle cost roughly the same whether two of you or six of you are in it, so per-person cost falls as the group grows.
  2. Travel dates. Season affects availability and rates across almost every component.
  3. Trip length. The number of touring days, and how many of them involve a guide and driver.
  4. Which tours you choose. A half-day at Giza and a full day to Abu Simbel are not the same commitment.
  5. Cruise or no cruise, and whether that is the three-night or the four-night sailing.
  6. Accommodation standard, which we confirm by name rather than by star rating alone.
  7. Domestic flight sectors — Cairo to Luxor, Aswan to Abu Simbel, and so on.

Send us your dates and party size in the enquiry form and we will return a figure for the itinerary you actually want, with the components itemised. If you are weighing two trip lengths against each other, send both. We will tell you plainly what the extra days buy.

Standard on every journey

Why private matters more here than elsewhere.

Every tour in our collection runs for your party alone. That is not a premium tier we upsell — it is simply how we operate, and in Egypt it changes the trip in six concrete ways.

You keep the timetable

Your guide, your vehicle, your morning. Leave at six for the West Bank or at nine after a proper breakfast — the day bends to you.

Heat is a scheduling problem

A private party can retreat at one o’clock and return at four when the light softens. A coach of forty cannot.

Interest is never evenly spread

One of you wants ninety minutes in the museum, the other wants three hours. Private travel settles that before it becomes a discussion.

Tombs are narrow spaces

Four people in a painted burial chamber is a completely different experience from twenty, and the paintings are why you came.

Plans move

A slow morning, a sandstorm, a simple change of heart. Private means we adjust the day rather than apologise for it.

Tailor-made is literal

Each tour stands alone, so we reorder, swap and shorten components without the rest of the itinerary falling over.

Straight answers

What we confirm for you, instead of printing here.

We would rather be accurate than impressive.

Plenty of operators publish a headline figure and a tidy inclusions list, then fill in the awkward parts once you have paid a deposit. We take the opposite route. Four things stay off this page on purpose — and every one of them comes back to you in writing, for your specific journey, before you commit to anything.

If any of it matters to your decision, ask us directly in the enquiry form. You will get a real answer rather than a brochure line.

No headline price

Cost moves with party size, dates, trip length, cruise choice and accommodation. One printed number would be either misleading or useless, and we are not fond of either.

No blanket inclusions list

Meals, entrance fees, transfers and domestic flights are confirmed per journey rather than assumed across all of them. You will see exactly what your quote covers, and what it does not.

No international airfare

Long-haul flights from the USA, UK, Canada, Europe or Australia are usually best arranged by you. Everything inside Egypt is ours to handle.

No guesses about your trip

Vessels, cabins, hotels and availability are checked for your dates and confirmed in writing. Nothing is implied, and nothing is held that we cannot actually confirm.

Before you enquire

The questions we answer every week.

What is included in a luxury Egypt vacation package?

It follows the components you choose. Your journey is assembled from the private tours and Nile cruises listed on this page, so inclusions and exclusions depend on which of them are in your itinerary. We set all of it out in writing when you enquire, before anything is committed.

How much does a luxury Egypt vacation cost?

We quote per journey rather than publishing a fixed figure, because party size, travel dates, trip length, cruise choice and accommodation standard all move the number. Send us your dates and how many are travelling, and we will come back with a cost for the itinerary you actually want.

What is the best time of year for a luxury trip to Egypt?

Egypt works year-round, and the honest answer depends on your heat tolerance and the dates you can take. Tell us the window you are considering and we will explain what to expect at that time of year, including how it changes the timing of outdoor sites.

How many days are ideal for a luxury Egypt vacation?

Eight to eleven days covers Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and a Nile cruise without rushing. Twelve to fifteen adds Abu Simbel, the quieter temples and genuine breathing room. Four to five means choosing between Cairo and Luxor rather than doing both.

Are private Egypt tours worth the cost?

In Egypt, yes, and mainly because of timing. Private travel lets you visit sites at the best hours, retreat during the worst of the heat, spend longer where you are enjoying yourself and leave early where you are not. It also means the tombs and temples are experienced with your own party rather than a coach group.

What are the best luxury Nile cruises in Egypt?

We operate two sailings between Luxor and Aswan: a four-night southbound cruise from Luxor and a three-night northbound cruise from Aswan. The better one is whichever matches the direction of your trip. Vessel and cabin specifics are confirmed by sailing date at enquiry.

Which cities should be included in a luxury Egypt itinerary?

Cairo and Giza first, then Luxor and Aswan, with Abu Simbel added when the schedule allows. That is where our full collection of private tours sits, and it is the route that returns the most for each day you spend.

Does a luxury Egypt tour include Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel?

It can include all four. Our published tours cover every one of them, and Abu Simbel is available either by flight from Aswan or as a private overland tour by road. Which combination lands in your itinerary depends on the number of days you have.

Which five-star hotels are best for a luxury stay in Cairo?

We do not name properties on this page, because availability and rates change constantly and we would rather not recommend a hotel we cannot then confirm for your dates. Tell us the standard and the location you want, and we will come back with named options in writing.

Can I book a private Egyptologist guide for my trip?

Guiding arrangements are confirmed per journey. If having an Egyptologist matters to you — and at Giza, Karnak and the Valley of the Kings it makes a genuine difference — say so in your enquiry and we will confirm it before you commit.

Are luxury Egypt vacation packages suitable for families?

Very. The adjustment we make for families is pacing rather than content: fewer sites in a day, more variety between them, and a private schedule you can shorten on the spot. Camel rides, quad bikes and a motorboat to a Nubian village usually carry more weight with children than a third temple.

What are the best luxury honeymoon experiences in Egypt?

A dawn hot air balloon over the Luxor West Bank, a sunset felucca with the engine off, and long unhurried stretches on a Nile cruise. We publish a dedicated luxury honeymoon collection you can build from, and we are glad to shape a route specifically around a couple’s first trip together.

Can I combine a Nile cruise with a Red Sea resort holiday?

Our published programmes cover Cairo, Giza, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the Nile, plus shore excursions from Safaga on the Red Sea coast. If you want something beyond that, ask us directly in the form and we will tell you honestly what we can and cannot arrange.

Are domestic flights included in luxury Egypt tour packages?

We operate flight-based programmes, including Cairo to Luxor by flight and Abu Simbel by flight from Aswan. Which flight sectors sit inside your own package is confirmed when we quote, along with exactly what each one covers.

Is a luxury Dahabiya cruise better than a large Nile cruise ship?

The two sailings we operate between Luxor and Aswan are the three-night and four-night cruises described on this page. Rather than compare vessel types in the abstract, tell us the kind of experience you are after and we will confirm in writing what is available for your dates.

How far in advance should I book a luxury Egypt vacation?

Earlier is better, particularly for cruise cabins and balloon flights in the busier months. Enquire as soon as your dates are firm and we will tell you what is realistically available rather than holding something we cannot confirm.

Do luxury Egypt tours provide airport transfers and visa support?

Transfers and any assistance we can provide are confirmed as part of your written itinerary rather than assumed across every package. Raise both in your enquiry and we will tell you exactly what is arranged on your behalf and what stays with you.

Can a luxury Egypt itinerary be customised for dietary needs, accessibility or special occasions?

That is precisely what private travel is for. Mention dietary requirements, mobility limits or an anniversary in the enquiry form, and we will build the itinerary around them and confirm what has been arranged in writing before you commit.

How do I book a luxury Egypt vacation with Egypt Luxury Trips?

Fill in the enquiry form with your travel dates, trip length, party size and the tours that interest you. We reply with availability, what each component involves and a written breakdown — and only then do you decide whether to go ahead.

Next step

Tell us the dates. We’ll tell you the truth.

Fill in the enquiry form with your travel dates, how many days you have, who is travelling and the tours on this page that caught your eye. We will come back with what is available, what it involves and what we would honestly recommend for the time you have — no pressure, no obligation, just a proper conversation about a trip you will be describing for years. The temples have waited four thousand years. Your annual leave is considerably less patient.
