Think of a luxury Egypt tour as three layers stacked together.
Layer one: the cities. Cairo and Giza for the Pyramids, the museums and the older layers of the city. Luxor for temples and tombs. Aswan for the softer, slower stretch of the Nile, plus Abu Simbel further south.
Layer two: the Nile. The stretch between Luxor and Aswan is where Egypt stops being a checklist and starts being a landscape. We operate cruises in both directions, which matters more than most travellers expect.

The Nile decision
Luxury Nile cruise Egypt: three nights or four?
Here’s where a luxury Egypt package stops being a series of hotel stays and becomes a journey. We operate the Nile in both directions, and the direction genuinely changes the trip.
The 4-night cruise sails Luxor to Aswan — southbound, four nights on board. The extra night on the southbound sailing gives you more unhurried time on deck, which is the whole point of cruising rather than driving. It suits trips that finish in the south, or that continue on to Abu Simbel.
The 3-night cruise sails Aswan to Luxor — northbound, three nights on board. The northbound sailing is faster and slots neatly into shorter itineraries, so it works when you’re flying home from Luxor or heading back to Cairo.
Either way, the appeal is the same and it’s a practical one: you unpack once. No repacking between Luxor and Aswan, no hotel check-ins, no early morning transfers. The scenery moves and you don’t.

Almost every luxury Egypt itinerary opens here, and for good reason. The greatest concentration of what you came to see sits within an hour of the city.
A quiet piece of advice from us: Dahshur and Saqqara are underrated. Most first-time visitors do Giza and move on. But standing at the Bent Pyramid with almost nobody else around gives you something Giza can’t — silence. If your package has room for one extra Cairo day, that’s where we’d put it.

Luxor: the world’s largest open-air museum
Luxor is where a luxury Egypt tour gets serious. The temple density here is almost unfair. Karnak alone could absorb a full morning and you’d still leave with unfinished business.
If you only take one piece of advice from this page, make it this one: book the balloon for a morning when you have nothing scheduled before 11am. It launches early. You’ll want breakfast afterwards, not a temple.

Honeymoons, families and small groups
Luxury Egypt honeymoon packages. Egypt is a quietly brilliant honeymoon. A private guide who reads the room, a felucca at sunset, a balloon at dawn, and long stretches on a Nile cruise where the only decision is which side of the deck to sit on. Egypt family luxury tours. Children tend to love Egypt more than their parents expect, largely because the subject matter is unbeatable. How many days do you need?
The honest answer: more than you’ve probably budgeted. Egypt is longer than it looks on a map, and Cairo to Aswan is roughly the distance from London to Edinburgh. Here’s how our published tours tend to combine.
