The premise

What “luxury” means on an Egypt holiday — and what it doesn’t.

There’s a moment most travellers describe the same way. You come around the last stretch of road in Giza, the coach traffic thins, and the Great Pyramid simply appears — bigger than the photographs prepared you for, and older than almost everything your brain uses as a reference point. Then someone next to you asks their guide a question, and the answer is good, and suddenly you’re not sightseeing anymore. You’re somewhere.

That gap — between seeing Egypt and understanding it — is what luxury Egypt holidays are really for.

We’re Egypt Luxury Trips, and we build private, well-paced journeys through Cairo, Luxor, Aswan, Abu Simbel and the Nile in between. Not a checklist. Not a bus with forty strangers and a flag. A trip shaped around how you like to travel, how much you actually want to walk in an afternoon, and which parts of Egypt matter most to you.

This page walks you through what we offer, how the pieces fit together, and what to think about before you enquire. Read it end to end and you’ll have a very clear picture of your options — and a much easier conversation with our team when you’re ready.

Let’s clear something up early, because the word gets thrown around a lot.

In Egypt, luxury isn’t really about thread count. It’s about access, pacing, and expertise. It’s arriving at a site when the light is good instead of when the crowd is thickest. It’s having someone with you who can explain why a particular wall of hieroglyphs matters, rather than reading the same three sentences you already read on the plane. It’s not having to solve logistics in 38-degree heat.

So when we talk about luxury Egypt travel, we mean:

  • Private touring, so the day moves at your speed
  • Sensible sequencing, so you’re not doing three temples before lunch and hating all of them
  • Depth over volume — fewer sites, understood properly, beats more sites half-seen
  • Someone accountable, so if a plan needs changing, it changes
Egypt rewards travellers who slow down. The country has more to show you than any two-week itinerary can hold, which means the real skill isn’t cramming — it’s choosing well.

Where you can go

Where your luxury holidays to Egypt can take you.

Our tours cluster around four regions. Most luxury Egypt tour packages combine two or three of them.

The Nile decision

The Nile cruise question: is it worth it?

Short answer: for most people, yes — and not for the reason they expect.

A luxury Nile cruise isn’t just transport between Luxor and Aswan. It’s the part of the trip where Egypt stops being a series of monuments and becomes a landscape. Green banks, sugarcane, kids waving from the water’s edge, temples arriving one at a time instead of all at once. You unpack once. The scenery does the moving.

We offer two directions:

Our two Nile cruises
Cruise Route Nights
4-Night Nile Cruise Luxor → Aswan 4
3-Night Nile Cruise Aswan → Luxor 3

Which way round?

Luxor to Aswan is the gentler build — you start with Egypt’s densest concentration of temples and finish in Aswan’s calm. Aswan to Luxor front-loads the relaxation and ends with the big finale. Cruise programmes, sailing days and onboard details are confirmed when you enquire, since these vary by departure.

Nile cruise vs dahabiya: the difference in plain English

Travellers ask this constantly, so here’s the honest comparison.

Nile cruise ship or dahabiya
  Nile cruise ship Dahabiya
SizeLarger vessel, more cabinsSmall sailing boat, very few cabins
FeelHotel-on-water, more facilitiesIntimate, quiet, closer to the water
PaceSet schedule, efficientSlower, more flexible, wind-dependent
Best forFirst-timers, families, travellers who like amenitiesCouples, repeat visitors, anyone chasing quiet

Neither is “better.” They’re different holidays. If you’re unsure, tell us what your ideal afternoon on the Nile looks like — we can usually tell which one suits you within about two questions.

Luxor: the one people come back for

If Cairo is the headline, Luxor is the substance. It’s where private Egypt tours really earn their money, because the sites are dense, the heat is real, and the difference between a good guide and a bad one is enormous.

A small piece of advice we give often: if you only have one full day in Luxor, don’t try to do both banks properly. Pick one, do it well, and leave wanting more. We’d rather you loved half of Luxor than tolerated all of it.

Aswan and Abu Simbel: where Egypt softens

Aswan is the calm after Cairo’s noise. The Nile widens, the pace drops, and the Nubian influence changes the feel of everything — food, colour, music.

Abu Simbel by flight or by road? Flight saves you hours and a very early alarm. Road gives you the desert crossing, which some travellers genuinely love and others find long. There’s no wrong answer — just tell us which kind of traveller you are, and we’ll advise honestly.

Timing

When to go — and how long you need.

Egypt’s most popular travel window generally runs October to April, when daytime temperatures across Cairo, Luxor and Aswan are far more comfortable for full days of touring. Summer travel is entirely possible — it just calls for earlier starts, longer midday breaks, and a lighter plan.

If you’re aiming for 2026 or 2027 travel, earlier planning gives you better options on cruise departures and peak-season dates. Popular periods fill first, and that’s true every year.

How long do you need?

The most common planning mistake we see is underestimating internal travel time. Egypt is bigger than it looks on a map.

What each trip length realistically covers
Trip length Realistically covers
3–4 daysCairo and Giza properly, or a focused Luxor stay
5–7 daysCairo plus Luxor, or Luxor plus Aswan with a cruise
8–10 daysCairo, Luxor, Aswan and a Nile cruise, comfortably
10+ daysAll of the above, plus Abu Simbel and the outlying temples without rushing

If you have a week, you can see a great deal. If you have ten days, you can see it and enjoy it. That second thing is the whole point.

Private, not group

Private or group? Almost always private.

Our tours are built as private Egypt tours — your party, your vehicle, your pace.

Your party, your vehicle, your pace

It costs more than a coach seat. It’s also the single biggest upgrade to the experience.

It changes what’s possible in a day

An extra twenty minutes where you’re captivated, a shorter stop where you’re not, lunch when you’re actually hungry.

For families, a survival strategy

For families in particular, private touring is less a luxury than a survival strategy. Children set their own schedule regardless of what the itinerary says.

The enquiry

Let’s build yours.

Here’s the thing about Egypt: almost nobody regrets going, and almost everybody wishes they’d planned it slightly differently. One more day in Luxor. One less rushed morning. A cruise instead of a drive.

That’s the conversation we’d like to have with you before you book anything.

Before you book

Frequently asked questions.

What’s included in a luxury Egypt holiday package?

Inclusions depend on the specific tours and dates you choose. Rather than publish a generic list that may not match your trip, we confirm exactly what’s included — and what isn’t — in writing when you enquire.

How much does a luxury holiday to Egypt cost?

Pricing varies by season, party size, tour selection and cruise dates. Send us your rough dates and traveller numbers and we’ll come back with real figures for your trip, not a placeholder range.

Are your tours private or group-based?

Private. Our tours are designed to run for your party.

Can one itinerary include Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel?

Yes — this is one of the most requested combinations, and our tour range covers every one of those destinations, including Abu Simbel by flight or by road.

Are domestic flights, transfers, visas, tickets and tips included?

These vary by itinerary, so we confirm them individually rather than guess. Ask us directly and you’ll get a clear, itemised answer.

Can I arrange a guide for the Pyramids and temples?

Guiding arrangements are confirmed per tour when you enquire.

Is Egypt suitable for a honeymoon?

It’s a popular choice, and we publish a dedicated guide on luxury honeymoon packages in Egypt. A Nile cruise paired with private touring tends to be the shape most couples land on.

Which holidays work best for families?

Private touring, a shorter daily plan, and experiences that break up the temple days — the camel ride, the felucca, the horse-drawn carriage tour — all help enormously.

Do you offer Red Sea beach or all-inclusive resort holidays?

Our current tour range is focused on cultural and historical travel through Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and the Nile, plus Safaga shore excursions. If you’re considering adding a coastal stay, mention it in your enquiry and we’ll tell you honestly what we can and can’t arrange.

How far ahead should I book?

The earlier the better for peak-season dates and cruise departures. If your dates are fixed, get in touch as soon as you have them.

Next step

The Nile has been there for a while.

It’ll wait — but the good dates won’t. No pressure, no hard sell. Just a straight answer from people who plan these journeys for a living.
