Aswan Tour from Hurghada: Day Tours and Nile Cruise Options

Aswan Tour from Hurghada

Planning an Aswan tour from Hurghada really comes down to one question: how do you want Aswan to fit into your wider Egypt journey? Perhaps you want one very full day of temples and the High Dam, a five-day sail south from Luxor, or a four-day cruise that begins in Aswan and ends among the monuments of Luxor.

One point is worth knowing before you compare the options. All three Egypt Luxury Trips itineraries below begin in Luxor or Aswan, and a Hurghada connection is not part of their listed programmes. We confirm that leg separately, so you can finalise your travel plans with clear information. If you are still weighing up the journey itself, our guide to travel time, attractions and itinerary planning from Hurghada is a useful companion.

The Luxor Aswan Day Tour: Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan in One Day

The Luxor Aswan Day Tour brings Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan together in an approximately 16-hour private excursion. It is a long day, but a rewarding one if you want a broad introduction to southern Egypt with hotel pickup and return in Luxor.

Kom Ombo Temple on the east bank of the Nile

You leave your Luxor hotel early in a private air-conditioned vehicle, accompanied by an English-speaking Egyptologist guide. Heading south, the route takes in the Temple of Horus at Edfu, followed by Kom Ombo Temple and the nearby Crocodile Museum.

In Aswan, the programme continues with the High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk. A motorboat then carries you across the water to Agilkia Island for Philae Temple.

The return journey changes pace: a first-class seated train from Aswan to Luxor, followed by a transfer to your hotel.

What is included in the day tour?

  • Luxor hotel pickup and return
  • Private air-conditioned road transportation
  • A private English-speaking Egyptologist guide
  • Entrance fees to the listed sites
  • The return motorboat ride to Philae
  • Lunch and bottled water
  • The first-class seated train ticket
  • Taxes and service charges

Personal expenses, tipping and additional services or attractions are not included.

A note on pacing. With a duration of around 16 hours, this is already a substantial sightseeing day before any connection with Hurghada is considered. We therefore do not describe it as a confirmed same-day Hurghada excursion. If you would rather concentrate on two temples, see our Edfu and Kom Ombo tour from Luxor, or read the full guide to the Luxor Aswan day tour via Edfu and Kom Ombo.

Four Nights from Luxor to Aswan: Sightseeing Across Five Days

The 4 Night Nile Cruise Luxor Aswan spreads the journey over five days, combining a cruise cabin with guided visits along the river. You embark in Luxor and see Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple before the ship heads south.

The following day turns to the West Bank: the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple and the Colossi of Memnon.

STOP 4

Aswan

The High Dam and a motorboat trip to Philae Temple. The Unfinished Obelisk is also listed, although parts of the programme make that visit depend on the cruise schedule, so confirm it in your final arrangements.

Accommodation, meals and optional visits

The package includes a cruise cabin for four nights, embarkation and disembarkation assistance, pickup or meeting arrangements in Luxor, and the listed guided sightseeing.

Meals are full board, with breakfast, lunch and dinner during the cruise and breakfast only on the final day. Drinks and meals outside those served aboard are not included.

Abu Simbel by road or by flight can be requested from Aswan as an optional addition. Its price and availability are confirmed separately.

Ask about the vessel. The itinerary does not name a particular ship, cabin specification or hotel-style rating. Put those questions in your enquiry rather than assuming details from the tour title.

Three Nights from Aswan to Luxor: Begin with Aswan’s Main Sights

Painted ancient Egyptian tomb decoration in the Valley of the Kings

The 3 Night Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor follows the opposite direction over four days. It opens with the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple, and finishes among the tombs and temples of Luxor.

Our full guide to the 3-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor describes the journey in more detail.

Day 1: Aswan sights and embarkation

The High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk and Philae Temple, together with cruise embarkation.

Day 2: A free morning, then sailing north

Enjoy a free morning in Aswan before sailing to Kom Ombo and continuing toward Edfu.

Day 3: Edfu Temple and the approach to Luxor

A horse-drawn carriage takes you to Edfu Temple, followed by sailing through Esna toward Luxor. Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple form the East Bank sightseeing programme.

Day 4: Luxor’s West Bank

After breakfast and disembarkation, the journey concludes with the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple and the Colossi of Memnon.

What does “private” mean on this cruise?

Your cabin and guide are private, while the ship carries other passengers. This is not a private charter.

The package lists pickup in Aswan, drop-off in Luxor, the Philae motorboat transfer, the Edfu carriage transfer and full-board meals, with breakfast only on the final day.

Optional Extras to Add to Your Aswan Journey

Both cruises can be extended with Abu Simbel, which UNESCO recognises with Philae as part of the Nubian Monuments from Abu Simbel to Philae World Heritage site. On the three-night cruise you can also request paid experiences such as the Karnak Temple Sound and Light Show or a Luxor hot-air-balloon flight.

Planning the Hurghada Connection

Before choosing an Aswan trip from Hurghada, establish where the confirmed tour begins and how you will reach it.

For either Luxor departure, ask about the connection to Luxor and whether an overnight stay is needed before the programme starts. For the Aswan departure, confirm your arrival arrangements and the required boarding time.

Request written clarification of:

  • Pickup and final drop-off locations
  • Transport between Hurghada and the tour’s starting point
  • Any accommodation outside the cruise
  • The complete price for your party
  • Entrance tickets and optional excursions
  • Cancellation and refund conditions

Confirmed Hurghada transfer times, distances and prices are not part of these itineraries, and terms for a two-day or three-day Aswan–Abu Simbel package departing from Hurghada are arranged individually. Ask for them with your quotation.

Aswan Tour from Hurghada: Frequently Asked Questions

Can you visit Aswan on a day trip from Hurghada?

Our listed programmes do not include a confirmed Hurghada departure. We offer an approximately 16-hour Aswan excursion from Luxor that returns to Luxor, so a Hurghada departure would need a separately confirmed programme. See the Luxor Aswan Day Tour for the full itinerary.

How much does an Aswan tour from Hurghada cost?

No confirmed Hurghada-based price is listed. Our tour pages show price on request, so ask for a quotation covering your chosen itinerary and any additional connections.

Are entrance fees included?

The Luxor Aswan Day Tour includes admission to its listed sites. The cruise descriptions exclude entrance tickets that are not listed as included, so request an itemised ticket breakdown before booking. Details are on the 4-night Luxor to Aswan cruise page.

Can Abu Simbel be added?

Both cruises offer Abu Simbel as a separate optional excursion, by road or flight. It is not part of the listed Luxor Aswan Day Tour programme.

Is the cabin private on the 3-night Aswan to Luxor cruise?

Your cabin and guide are private, but the ship carries other passengers, so this is not a private charter. See the 3-night cruise itinerary for what is listed.

Which meals are included on the Nile cruises?

Both cruises are full board, with breakfast, lunch and dinner during the cruise and breakfast only on the final day. Drinks and meals outside those served aboard are not included.
