Some trips are about ticking off sights. Others are about sharing a moment, just the two of you, with the Nile moving quietly beside you. A great luxury couples Egypt tour usually has a bit of both.
At Egypt Luxury Trips, we put together journeys around Luxor and Aswan, the stretch of the Nile where Egypt’s temples, tombs and river life sit closest together. Below, we’ve picked 7 tours that suit couples, whether you’re celebrating a honeymoon, an anniversary, or simply a long-overdue trip for two. Some are full Nile cruises. Others are single mornings or evenings you can slot into your stay.
You don’t need to take all seven. Think of this as a menu: choose one anchor journey, then add the moments that match how you like to travel.

1. 4 Night Nile Cruise Luxor to Aswan
Best for: couples who want one journey to carry the whole trip.
If you only choose one tour from this list, make it a Nile cruise. You unpack once, wake up in a new place most mornings, and the river does the travelling for you.
This itinerary starts in Luxor and sails south to Aswan over 4 nights and 5 days. On day one, you board, settle into your cabin and visit Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple with your Egyptologist. Day two crosses to the West Bank for the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. Then the cruise heads south to the Temple of Horus at Edfu and Kom Ombo Temple, where you’ll also see the Crocodile Museum. In Aswan, you visit the High Dam, take a motorboat to Philae Temple, and see the Unfinished Obelisk as included in the cruise programme. The final morning is breakfast and disembarkation in Aswan.

What’s included
- Nile cruise cabin for 4 nights / 5 days
- Full board: breakfast, lunch and dinner daily, with breakfast only on the final day
- Embarkation and disembarkation assistance
- Pickup or meeting arrangements in Luxor
- Guided visits to the sites listed above
- Motorboat transfer to Philae Temple
- Local coordination and booking support from Egypt Luxury Trips
What’s not included: the optional Abu Simbel tour, extra-fee royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, entrance tickets not listed as included, drinks and meals not served on board, personal expenses, tipping and travel insurance.
Good to know: the same Egyptologist accompanies the sightseeing from Luxor to Aswan. That continuity helps, because you’re not meeting a new guide at every stop. If you’d like Abu Simbel too, it can be requested separately from Aswan, by flight or by road, with price and availability confirmed first.
2. 3 Night Nile Cruise Aswan to Luxor
Best for: couples with a little less time, or those who like to end in Luxor.
Sailing downstream, this journey runs 3 nights and 4 days from Aswan to Luxor. It’s the shorter cousin of the first cruise, but it still covers ten guided sites.
Day one begins in Aswan with the High Dam, the Unfinished Obelisk (still partly cut from the bedrock) and Philae Temple by motorboat, followed by embarkation. Day two starts with a free morning in Aswan. You can browse the market, or add Abu Simbel before the ship departs if you’ve arranged it. After lunch on board, you visit Kom Ombo Temple, famous for its double dedication to Sobek and Horus. Tea is served on the sun deck while you continue toward Edfu.

Day three starts with a horse-drawn carriage ride to the Temple of Horus at Edfu. The itinerary describes it as Egypt’s best-preserved temple. You then sail through Esna and reach Luxor by evening for Karnak Temple (look out for its Hypostyle Hall with 134 columns) and Luxor Temple. Day four brings the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple and the Colossi of Memnon before your drop-off.
What’s included
- Nile cruise cabin for 3 nights / 4 days
- Full board, with breakfast only on the final day
- Pickup in Aswan and drop-off in Luxor (Luxor Airport, the train station or your next hotel)
- Embarkation and disembarkation assistance
- Guided sightseeing at the ten listed sites
- Motorboat transfer to Philae and horse-carriage transfer to Edfu
- Local coordination and booking support
What’s not included: Abu Simbel, the Nubian Village visit, the Karnak Sound and Light Show and the Luxor hot-air-balloon flight (all available as paid optional additions), entrance tickets not listed as included, drinks and meals not served on board, personal expenses, tipping and travel insurance.
Good to know: your cabin and guide are private, but the ship carries other passengers. It isn’t a privately chartered vessel. We’d rather you know that now than on boarding day.
3. Hot Air Balloon Luxor
Best for: couples who want one unforgettable morning.
Most of Luxor is seen from the ground, among columns and carved walls. This is the chance to see it from above.
Your morning begins early, with pickup from your hotel or cruise. You cross the Nile by motorboat to the West Bank, where tea, coffee and a light snack are served before the launch. At the site, you watch the crew prepare the balloon and receive a safety briefing before boarding the basket.

Then comes the flight: about 45 minutes over Luxor’s West Bank. Depending on wind and conditions, you may drift over fields, villages, desert hills and ancient monuments. The route isn’t fixed, and we can’t promise a particular sequence of monuments. That’s part of the nature of ballooning. After landing, you receive a flight certificate, then head back to your hotel or cruise. The experience ends early enough to leave room for breakfast or later sightseeing.
What’s included: hotel pickup and return, air-conditioned transfers, motorboat crossing, pre-flight snacks and refreshments, the balloon flight of approximately 45 minutes, bottled water, a flight certificate, taxes and service charges.
What’s not included: additional activities, personal expenses and tipping.
4. Luxor Felucca Ride
Best for: couples who want to slow right down.
After a few days of temples, a felucca is a different rhythm entirely. You step aboard a traditional wooden sailboat with an experienced captain, and for approximately three hours the Nile is the whole point.
The felucca sails past palm groves, farmland, small islands, fishing boats and villages, with views toward the West Bank. There’s no rush to the next monument and no schedule to keep. You can choose an afternoon or sunset sailing. On the later departure, the changing light over the West Bank becomes part of the show, and tea or coffee is served on board.

What’s included: hotel pickup and return in Luxor, the felucca sailing trip, an experienced felucca captain, bottled water, tea or coffee, taxes and fees.
What’s not included: meals, unlisted drinks or activities, personal expenses and tipping.
Good to know: the tour is privately arranged. Confirm your preferred departure time when you enquire.
5. Abu Simbel by Plane from Aswan
Best for: couples who want Abu Simbel without the long desert drive.
Abu Simbel sits far south of Aswan, beside Lake Nasser. Flying turns a very long day into a manageable one: roughly 40 minutes each way, with the whole experience taking about six hours.
After private pickup in Aswan and a transfer to the airport, you fly south and continue to the temple complex with your Egyptologist. The highlight is the Great Temple of Ramses II, where four colossal seated statues dominate the facade. Inside, halls and carved scenes show how Ramses II used architecture and imagery to project power. Next door stands the Temple of Hathor and Queen Nefertari, a rare monument dedicated to a royal woman. You’ll also hear how the temples were relocated in one of the world’s most ambitious archaeological rescue projects, and about the solar alignment traditionally associated with February 22 and October 22.

What’s included: return Aswan–Abu Simbel flights, pickup and return in Aswan, private air-conditioned local transfers, meet-and-assist service, an English-speaking Egyptologist guide, Abu Simbel entrance fees, bottled water, taxes and service charges.
What’s not included: meals, optional activities, personal expenses, tipping and services not listed as included.
Good to know: the tour is private, but the domestic flights are regular airline services, not private aircraft. Flight times can change, so your final pickup time is confirmed for your date. Flying also costs more than going by road, in exchange for much less time spent travelling.
6. Karnak Sound and Light Show
Best for: couples who want a temple evening without a full guided tour.
Karnak looks very different after dark. This evening experience takes about two hours including transfers, starting with pickup from your hotel or cruise.
Inside, you walk through the Avenue of Sphinxes, the monumental entrance and the open courts, with narration, music and lighting telling the story of ancient Thebes. The route continues to the Great Hypostyle Hall, where light picks out the scale of the columns. Then you sit down beside the Sacred Lake for a slower, seated finale.

What’s included: hotel or cruise pickup and return, air-conditioned transportation, Sound and Light Show admission, an English-speaking assistant, bottled water, taxes and service charges.
What’s not included: an Egyptologist-guided temple tour, meals, additional services and tipping.
Good to know: this is an evening presentation, not a guided daytime visit. If you’d like a guided Karnak visit, our Nile cruises include one.
7. Philae Sound and Light Show
Best for: couples who like a little theatre with their history.
Reaching the temple is half the fun. After pickup from your Aswan hotel or Nile cruise, a private air-conditioned vehicle takes you to the Philae boat landing. From there, you cross the water by motorboat to Agilkia Island, and the illuminated temple gradually appears out of the darkness.
Inside, you move through floodlit courts, halls and colonnades while narration, lighting and projections recount Philae’s history and the story of Isis and Osiris. Afterwards, you return by motorboat and private transfer. The whole evening takes approximately two hours.

What’s included: Aswan pickup and return, private air-conditioned transfers, the Sound and Light Show ticket, return motorboat transportation, bottled water, taxes and service charges.
What’s not included: a private Egyptologist-guided temple tour, meals, additional services and tipping.
Good to know: the show itself is a group presentation. Only the transfers are private. Start times and narration languages depend on the site’s schedule, so tell us your travel date and we’ll check what applies. Wear closed, flat shoes, as you’ll be walking on ancient stone in low light. The evening can also be paired with the separate St Simeon Monastery and Tombs of the Nobles excursion in Aswan.
Which Tour Is Right for the Two of You?
| If you want… | Start with |
|---|---|
| One journey that covers Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan | Tour 1 or Tour 2 |
| To start in Luxor and end in Aswan | Tour 1 (4 nights) |
| To start in Aswan and end in Luxor, in less time | Tour 2 (3 nights) |
| A sunrise moment you’ll talk about for years | Tour 3, the balloon |
| A calm, unhurried time on the water | Tour 4, the felucca |
| Abu Simbel with minimal travel time | Tour 5, by plane |
| An evening at a temple | Tour 6 (Karnak) or Tour 7 (Philae) |
A few pairings work naturally. Both cruises can be combined with Abu Simbel as an optional extra, confirmed and priced before you board. The 3-night cruise also lists the balloon flight and the Karnak Sound and Light Show as optional additions. And if you’re staying in Aswan, the Philae evening can sit alongside a daytime excursion.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the best luxury Egypt tour for couples?
It depends on your pace. For most couples, a Nile cruise makes the best anchor: one cabin, full-board meals and guided sightseeing all arranged together. Then add a balloon flight, a felucca ride or an evening show for the moments that feel more personal.
How many days do couples need?
Our two cruises run 4 nights / 5 days and 3 nights / 4 days. The other experiences range from about two hours to a six-hour day trip, so they fit around a cruise or a longer stay.
Is a Nile cruise a good option for couples?
Yes, if you’d like to see several temples without repacking. Meals and sightseeing are organised within the itinerary. On the 3-night cruise, your cabin and guide are private, but the ship also carries other passengers.
Can couples combine Luxor and Aswan in one trip?
Yes. Both Nile cruises link the two cities, visiting Edfu and Kom Ombo along the way.
Can we include Abu Simbel?
Yes. You can take the Abu Simbel by Plane tour from Aswan, or request Abu Simbel as an optional addition to the cruises. Availability and price are confirmed separately.
Are these tours private or shared?
It varies by tour. The balloon, felucca, Abu Simbel and Karnak experiences are presented as private tours. The Philae show is a group presentation with private transfers. The 3-night cruise has a private cabin and guide on a shared ship.
How much do these tours cost?
We don’t publish fixed prices on the tour pages. Send us your travel dates, number of travellers and pickup point, and we’ll confirm the price along with the inclusions.
Do these tours cover Cairo or the Red Sea?
The seven tours here are based in Luxor and Aswan. If you’d like to talk about other destinations, mention it in your enquiry.
