If you are planning a Luxor Aswan tour from Cairo, the most important detail is where the journey truly begins. Our four-night Nile cruise sails from Luxor to Aswan over five days: temples in the morning, slow river views in the afternoon and dinner on board each evening. Cairo is where many travellers arrive, so this guide shows how the two fit together.
With Egypt Luxury Trips, this Luxor Aswan tour takes you through Karnak and Luxor Temple, cross to Luxor’s West Bank, visit Edfu and Kom Ombo, and finish in Aswan with Philae Temple and the High Dam. An Egyptologist accompanies the sightseeing, connecting each site to the story of the one before it.
Optional experiences such as Abu Simbel are kept separate, so you decide how far south your Egypt journey goes. Short on time? Take a look at our Luxor Aswan day tour instead.

Luxor Aswan Tour from Cairo: How the Journey Fits Together
The five days describe the cruise itself, which begins in Luxor and ends in Aswan. Travel between Cairo and Luxor is not listed among the cruise inclusions, so it is arranged separately. When you enquire, tell us your Cairo dates and we will discuss how to connect them with your Luxor embarkation.

Planning the Cairo leg?
These pages can help you shape the wider trip: Cairo to Luxor by plane, Luxor day trip from Cairo and the Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel tour.
The standard cruise concludes in Aswan, and a return journey to Cairo is not part of the published inclusions, so mention it in your enquiry as well.
Your Five-Day Luxor and Aswan Itinerary
Each day pairs guided sightseeing with unhurried time on the river. Here is how your five days unfold.
Day 1: Board in Luxor and Visit Karnak and Luxor Temple
Your journey begins in Luxor, where you board the cruise and settle into your cabin. After lunch, join your Egyptologist for visits to Karnak Temple and Luxor Temple.
These two stops introduce the Luxor portion of your itinerary through temple courts, towering columns, obelisks and riverside architecture. Your guide provides context throughout, with time for questions and photographs. After sightseeing, return to the cruise for dinner and your first night on board.
Because day one combines embarkation and sightseeing, confirm your arrival arrangements against the programme before you travel.

Day 2: Explore Luxor’s West Bank
The second day takes you to the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut’s Temple and the Colossi of Memnon.
At the Valley of the Kings, the programme includes selected open royal tombs. Tombs that carry an extra entrance fee are not part of the standard package, so mention any particular tomb you hope to enter before booking. The wider area is recognised by UNESCO as Ancient Thebes with its Necropolis.
Continue to Hatshepsut’s Temple, set dramatically against the West Bank cliffs, before stopping at the Colossi of Memnon. Together these visits form the principal West Bank sightseeing on the cruise. For a deeper day on land, see our Valley of the Kings and Hatshepsut Temple tour.

Day 3: Visit Edfu and Kom Ombo
Your itinerary continues with a visit to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, followed by a return to the cruise and onward sailing toward Kom Ombo.
At Kom Ombo, the programme includes the double temple and the Crocodile Museum. The day mixes guided visits ashore with time travelling on the river. Both temples are part of the published itinerary, not optional excursions added to the cruise price. Want to see them on a separate day? Explore our Edfu and Kom Ombo temples tour from Luxor.

Day 4: Discover Aswan and Philae Temple
In Aswan, your sightseeing includes the High Dam and a motorboat journey to Philae Temple.
The boat crossing is included in the programme and becomes part of the visit itself, linking your land-based sightseeing with the island temple of Isis rising from the water. Philae belongs to the UNESCO-listed Nubian Monuments from Abu Simbel to Philae.
The Unfinished Obelisk also appears alongside the Aswan sightseeing, although its day-by-day description is conditional on the cruise programme. Ask us to confirm it in your final itinerary before booking. For more on this area, see our Philae Temple, High Dam and Unfinished Obelisk tour.

Day 5: Breakfast and Disembarkation in Aswan

Your final morning includes breakfast and cruise check-out in Aswan.
Any onward transfer should be confirmed as part of your arrangements. If you would like to continue to Abu Simbel, that excursion is handled separately and requires confirmation of price, availability and timing.
The standard cruise concludes in Aswan; a return journey to Cairo is not listed within the published inclusions.

Tell us your dates and your starting city, and we will shape the journey around them.
Accommodation, Meals and Your Egyptologist Guide
You sleep in a Nile cruise cabin for four nights. The vessel name, cabin category and onboard facilities are details we confirm when you enquire, so you can compare the proposal with your expectations.
The meal arrangement is full board: breakfast, lunch and dinner during the cruise, with breakfast only on the final day. Drinks and meals not served on board are excluded.
The same Egyptologist accompanies the guided sightseeing from Luxor to Aswan, giving continuity to your visits. A guided itinerary does not by itself mean exclusive use of the vessel, so ask us about the cruise format if that matters to you.

What Is Included and What Is Not
Included
- A Nile cruise cabin for four nights and five days.
- The stated full-board meal arrangement.
- Embarkation and disembarkation assistance.
- Pickup or meeting arrangements in Luxor.
- Guided sightseeing at the listed Luxor, Edfu, Kom Ombo and Aswan sites.
- Motorboat transportation to Philae Temple.
- Local coordination and booking support from Egypt Luxury Trips.
Not Included
- The optional Abu Simbel excursion.
- Extra-fee royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings.
- Entrance tickets not listed as included.
- Drinks and meals not served on board.
- Personal expenses.
- Tipping.
- Travel insurance.
The Unfinished Obelisk appears in the inclusion list, but its conditional wording should be resolved in your confirmed programme. Guided visits do not mean every entrance ticket is covered, so request an itemised ticket breakdown with your quotation.
Flights or train journeys from Cairo are not listed as cruise inclusions. Check transport separately rather than treating this cruise as an all-inclusive Cairo departure package.
Add an Abu Simbel Visit from Aswan

Abu Simbel is an optional extension to this itinerary. Two routes are possible from Aswan: an excursion by flight, such as our Abu Simbel by plane, or a private road trip.
Our Abu Simbel Private Tour by Road lasts approximately nine hours, starting and finishing in Aswan. It includes private air-conditioned transportation, admission, an English-speaking Egyptologist, bottled water, taxes and service charges, and visits the Great Temple of Ramses II and the Temple of Hathor and Queen Nefertari.
It is not part of the standard four-night cruise price, so mention Abu Simbel in your enquiry. For planning detail, read our guide to an Abu Simbel trip from Aswan.
Plan Your Luxor Aswan Tour from Cairo
The cruise is priced on request, with no fixed amount published. To receive a proposal that fits your Luxor Aswan tour from Cairo, include your travel dates, number of travellers and intended arrival point in the enquiry form. If you are starting in Cairo, say so, so the connection to Luxor can be discussed.
Before confirming, ask us for:
- The vessel and cabin details.
- An itemised breakdown of entrance-ticket coverage.
- Meeting arrangements in Luxor.
- Any onward services in Aswan.
These details let you judge the actual proposal rather than rely on assumptions. Comparing options? See our luxury Egypt tours with Nile cruise, the dahabiya Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan or the 3-night Nile cruise from Aswan to Luxor.
