TOUR HIGHLIGHTS :
THE PRICES PLAN:
Our trip begins with an early morning drive from Cairo to El Alamein. The battle of El Alamein is often described as the most decisive victory of WWII. Whilst here you will have time to visit one of the Commonwealth cemeteries. Continuing along the coastal road we pass through Marsa Matrouh where we have time for lunch before heading into the Egyptian deserts to Siwa Oasis. You have the remainder of the evening free to begin exploring intriguing Siwa.
Today we take a bicycle tour of Siwa. The tour is flexible but one of the main highlights is a visit to the Temple of Oracle, where Alexander the Great is said to have once visited. The afternoon is free for you to continue exploring on your own.
One of the most iconic images of Siwa is the almost otherworldly ‘Mountain of the Dead’, which looms over Siwa. Today we visit the mountain of the Dead as well as Old Shali with its labyrinthine streets. In the afternoon we take a jeep safari out into the Great Sand Sea.
We leave Siwa Oasis this morning and drive back to the coast to Marsa Matrouh. This interesting seaport is home to a large Libyan/Berber population, and the town has a unique feel to it. There is time for a dip in the Mediterranean before taking a stroll around the colourful markets including the Libyan souk. In the afternoon we continue on to Alexandria, where the evening is free to enjoy this historically important city.
