What To Expect

.

Certainly! A day tour from Safaga to Luxor and back to the port is a wonderful way to explore the historical treasures of Egypt. Luxor is home to some of the most iconic ancient Egyptian sites, including the temples of Karnak and Luxor, the Valley of the Kings, and the Temple of Hatshepsut. Here’s a suggested itinerary for your day tour:

  1. Departure from Safaga Port: Your tour will begin with an early morning departure from Safaga Port. You will meet your guide and driver at the port, and then embark on a comfortable air-conditioned vehicle for the journey to Luxor. The drive from Safaga to Luxor takes approximately 3-4 hours.
  2. Karnak Temple: Upon arrival in Luxor, your first stop will be the Karnak Temple Complex. This vast ancient temple complex is dedicated to the worship of Amun-Ra, the principal deity of ancient Egypt. You can explore the massive columns, obelisks, and statues that adorn the site, and learn about the fascinating history and mythology associated with Karnak.
  3. Lunch: After visiting Karnak Temple, you’ll have a break for lunch at a local restaurant in Luxor. You can enjoy some traditional Egyptian cuisine and take a rest before continuing your tour.
  4. Luxor Temple: After lunch, you’ll visit the Luxor Temple, located in the heart of the modern city. Luxor Temple is another impressive ancient Egyptian temple, originally built during the New Kingdom period. It is renowned for its colossal statues, graceful colonnades, and well-preserved hieroglyphs.
  5. Valley of the Kings: Next, you’ll head to the west bank of the Nile River to explore the Valley of the Kings. This is the burial site of many pharaohs from the New Kingdom, including the tomb of Tutankhamun. You’ll have the opportunity to enter a few selected tombs (additional entrance fees may apply) and marvel at the intricate wall paintings and hieroglyphics.
  6. Temple of Hatshepsut: Adjacent to the Valley of the Kings, you’ll find the Temple of Hatshepsut, one of the most striking ancient Egyptian temples. This mortuary temple was built for Queen Hatshepsut, one of Egypt’s few female pharaohs. Its unique design and dramatic setting against the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari make it a must-visit attraction.
  7. Return to Safaga Port: After visiting the Temple of Hatshepsut, you’ll begin your journey back to Safaga Port. The drive from Luxor to Safaga takes approximately 3-4 hours, depending on traffic conditions and the time spent at each site.
